It says right in the prayerbook that Yom Kippur is the day that God smites deceivers, wrongdoers, and criminals.

Yom Kippur is the day of atonement...we ask G-d to forgive us our transgressions...and we starve doing it..however with the 4 years of Trump garbage we have had to endure I'd say this year, for a change, G-d has a lot to answer for...
