whenever he is under fire. I think it is some kind of defense mechanism, like hiding behind a mask.

I've noticed it quite a few times whenever he is under fire. Maybe his blood pressure does contribute.

Maybe all that hair hanging down on his forehead is also a defense mechanism, like when self-conscious teenagers wear bangs.
