... Gee I wonder why?
Inciting domestic terrorism didn't give Trump that bump in the polls he was hoping for.

(13,616 posts)debates. That was my post on a FB debate thread. It was started by a moderate republican that was disgusted. So far no Trump cultists have chimed in. Small sample, but encouraging. The guys best friend is a radiologist that loves Trump. I KNOW he was watching and saw the posts, but nothing from him.

(3,501 posts)Most of these folks (white supremacists) don't seem to have a lot going for them, they seem more misfits than anything else. Hitler's SA were brawlers who mixed it up with communists when they'd try to interrupt Nazi speeches in Bavarian beer halls. I'm pretty sure Trump and a lot of his followers would fold up and cover if they actually had to face someone willing to get into a physical altercation with them (on a 1 on 1 basis).

We should never back down because of them, but we also should not underestimate them, either.

(3,501 posts)Most of the white supremacists are the former and not the later. The later group, to be honest, are all of our responsibility. We have a totally cavalier attitude towards sending people into extremely dangerous (combat) situations and not expecting them to come back mentally scared from their experiences. I have a family member who participated in "black ops" operations and wound up shooting a child who was an armed fighter. My father's family was forced labor for the Japanese on Guam. My uncle told his kids he fell into a pit of body parts running to shine Japanese officer shoes, being late would mean extreme punishment for his family. War exposes all folks (soldiers and civilians) to extreme psychological stress to the point where some of them can't cope with what they've experienced. Whether they become violent to others or themselves when they get home, drug users or have some other breakdown, that's on us for putting them into those situations in the first place.
I don't want to get too ranty, but I kind of see Trump's point about people in the military being taken advantage of by the rest of us; they do the "dirty work" for us and suffer the consequences, mostly alone.

(846 posts)I listened to an in depth podcast about them about a year ago I will try to remember it.
As someone who is former military I know no one that supports them that is a veteran in my circle, I do know a few wannabe guys that play with guns that may fit the proud boy profile, I am fairly sure if something real came down they would be nowhere to be found. Courage falls apart without the group think. Just an observation.

So, it does seem like a good fit for the impeached fascist and his goons.

(11,575 posts)Trump is the leader of the Republican Party for a reason. He is actively fomenting racial violence to stay in power to avoid that orange jumpsuit at Rikers with his name on it.

(1,587 posts)It is impossible for him to control himself. Seemed to me to be a veiled threat when he commented Youd be surprised. Later for a fleeting moment something akin to fear flashed across his face when looking down as Joe directly addressed the camera and assured us if tRump looses he will have to leave office. He is a cornered rat willing to burn down our democracy.
