a deliberate mugging of America's democratic process

This is the essential point. It was a deliberate mugging of America's democratic process orchestrated by a man heavily indebted to unidentified creditors and determined - for whatever reason - to take the country down with him.

The problem with the “ it was all a shitshow “ take on the #Debates2020 is that it ignores the real possibility it was a deliberate attempt to undermine democratic process. If you make everyone believe it’s pointless to listen/ vote / count when you are trailing - it’s job done.

Emphasis mine

Of course it was a shitshow. Trump made sure of that. But I do not think it will have the effect he was hoping for. With people engaging in the election a month out, if anything it will make people who see Trump for what he is even more determined to turn out and stand up to the fascist bully. Particularly female voters - bar the cult of course! He represents everything we loathe about toxic masculinity.

Graphic mine
