18. Right now, it looks like this debate will have a significant effect.

Republicans are currently considering whether or not to “distance themselves” from Trump. Do they stick by him (and lose sane independents), or do they defy him (and lose the support of some of their racist base)? They’re in a tough spot. Their silence tells me that they’re not sure what to do, but this debate hurt them all, and they know it.
