Former RNC Chair and Montana Governor Spurns His Party to Endorse Joe Biden

Former Republican Montana Gov. Marc Racicot, who also served as chairman of the Republican National Committee for two years, has broken with his party and is endorsing Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

The Helena Independent Record reports that Racicot made his endorsement on Tuesday evening in an interview with Yellowstone Public Radio.

“Even as a Republican, I will not be supporting Donald Trump for president, and I will not be voting for him,” the former Montana governor said before making an argument in favor of Biden’s moral character.

“I’m not going to march lockstep with him every step of the way or with the administration,” he said. “I’ll have disagreements, I’m certain. But the content of a man’s character or a woman’s character to serve in that capacity is more important than any other issue that I have to consider as a matter of conscience.” ...

I hope he can persuade some of the Montana GOP to follow along with him. Taking Montana will be a challenge but not out of the question.

Seems to make sense now that he's broken with the GOP on Trump.

They'll vote GOP for Senate because they see it as a check on the "radicalism" of a Biden Administration. But they do want to be rid of trump. None have told me that they're voting FOR Biden, only that they will NOT vote for trump. And they say it under secrecy too. One told me, "I think we can make it thru 4 yrs of Biden. I dont think we can take another 4 of trump". And he was a RABID trumper in '15-'16

All the Republicans Who Won’t Support Trump

https://www.nytimes.com/article/republicans-voting-for-biden-not-trump.html

Christine Whitman, a former governor of New Jersey: Ms. Whitman was one of the few Republicans speaking at the Democratic National Convention. Last October, Ms. Whitman told the television host Larry King that she would vote for Mr. Biden if he were the nominee, calling him the Democrats’ “best chance at winning in 2020.”

snip

Carly Fiorina, a 2016 presidential candidate: Ms. Fiorina has said she will support Mr. Biden because he is “a person of humility and empathy and character.”

snip

More than 70 top Republican national security officials: Hours before Mr. Biden accepted the Democratic nomination, the officials released a letter stating that they would be voting for Mr. Biden in November and that Mr. Trump was “unfit to lead.” Among the signatories were former Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel; Michael Hayden, the former C.I.A. and N.S.A. director; John Negroponte, the former director of national intelligence; and William Webster, the former director of the C.I.A. and the F.B.I.

snip

Mickey Edwards, a writer and a former Oklahoma congressman: In 2019, Mr. Edwards was part of a group of 19 former G.O.P. members who denounced Mr. Trump’s border wall as “unconstitutional.” Mr. Edwards also officially endorsed Mr. Biden as the Republican convention began. (Even in Oklahoma they are turning on Trump.)

Middle of the road Republicans are breaking for Joe. Drumpf is steadily thinning his own herd via this rampant virus, Moderate Republicans are defecting to Joe daily.

Whoever wrote the news said it, he did not.

At least in the news clip he never said "I endorse the Democratic candidate", or "I will vote for Biden", he just said he is not voting for trump.

I would be happier if he had said it and not have someone who wrote the article make an assumption.

Many republicans have said they will not vote for trump, but they will not vote for Biden either, this one just said he will not support trump.
