This is a very enlightening paragraph re: trumps debate strategy to make Joe look weak.

THIS IS A VERY SMART OBSERVATION from Barry Snyder's daughter, perhaps explaining why BIDEN might have seemed weaker than he should have last night, and showing Biden's hidden strength. Cut and pasted with Barry's permission from Facebook.

"My daughter just made an interesting observation after hearing from a friend who stutters. That person noted that one of the challenges for someone who stutters is to have time to respond. That is to say, Trump’s interruptions and talking over Biden were a deliberate strategy to try to make Biden stutter before a national audience. Rebecca’s friend was aware of Biden closing his eyes and using visualization techniques to prevent stuttering in responding to Trump. So it’s worse than the President of the U.S. being unhinged. It’s a deliberate attempt to appeal to the worst in people- making fun of someone with a disability, making that person seem weak- as a way to win votes. It’s a tried and true approach for Trump. So go easy on Biden; he used a lot of energy not giving the mob the subject of mockery Trump’s strategists were aiming for as their prime objective. And teach your children well. It’s not that hard to tell right from wrong, what constitutes leadership, what it means to be an adult, no matter how many adults have forgotten and are happy to hold up as a model someone who is little more, and a lot worse, than a schoolyard bully."

You’ve got this, Joe!

A lot of this I did not know. And it makes a huge difference.

Joe knows what he needs to do--and last night, he did it!

Mostly under control, now, thanks to my theatrical training.
I recognized what that bastard was doing immediately, because it used to be done to me by the grade school bullies. After all, I was a from one of those Commie countries, I had an accent, I stammered...I was considered fair game.
Props to Joe for coming through it with honors.
And a place in hell for Lord Dampnut.

Trump’s ranting aggression made me physically uncomfortable because it felt abusive. I can imagine how it felt to you with your personal history. We will all be so relieved in January, I’m starting to feel a bit hopeful.

I watched the debate with my independent, historically slightly right-leaning nonagenarian mom. She voted for Clinton and found trump disgusting even before the debate.

She likes Joe but the one negative comment she had about him was that “he appeared weak.” She said this when I mentioned incredulously the post-debate polling results that showed some people (though a minority) thought trump seemed like a stronger leader, and that was her explanation. I told her I thought he was exercising mindful restraint and remained surprisingly good humored in the face of an outright assault. Your explanation adds another layer, so thanks for that insight.

It was obvious to me what he was trying to do, to cause Biden to stumble over his words and lose his train of thought.

But you know what? Biden landed several punches (zingers) on Chump, while Chump just looked like a screaming angry asshole. The entire thing backfired on him, but of course Chump will never acknowledge it.

The next debate between Biden and Chump (in two weeks) should have tighter controls and not allow this nonsense. If they really do cut Chump off and make him wait his turn, he'll probably quit the "debate." He'll never play by the rules, he only plays when he can cheat. I picture him stomping off the stage just make everyone crazy.
