Schumer rips Trump, GOP over debate: 'How are you not embarrassed?'

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) tore into President Trump and congressional Republicans on Wednesday over a chaotic presidential debate, asking how they weren't "embarrassed."

"Last night President Trump delivered one of the most disgraceful performances at a presidential debate that anyone has ever seen. ... Shakespeare summed up in 'Macbeth,' Trump's performance last night - a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing," Schumer said during a Senate floor speech.

"I just want to ask my Republican colleagues, how are you not embarrassed that President Trump represents your party? How can you possibly, possibly support anyone who behaves this way? Are you watching the same person we are?" Schumer added.

The first presidential debate between Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden was a chaotic confrontation, marked by interruptions, constant cross-talk and increasingly personal attacks.
