For those of you not from Texas, Harris County includes Houston, and has more people than 24 states. It will have one drop box.

BREAKING: Gov. Abbott issues proclamation CLOSING (as of Oct. 2) satellite offices where voters can drop off completed mail-in ballots.
Counties can only have 1 dropoff point, he says.
Travis has 4, including 3 downtown.
Harris has 12.

its easy to drive anywhere in a small rural county while that same trip might be much more time consuming in large counties. They hope people won't bother

But with ballots coming to people in September, anyone who doesn’t procrastinate should have their properly completed ballot back to the elections office by mid-October at the latest.

My registrar sent me a mail ballot, even though I had indicated that I would vote in person. The ballot arrived at my home three days after it was sent from the elections office.

That is the price that is being paid for the Susan Sarandon, Cornell West, Jill Stein attack on Hillary in 2016 and gullible voters listening to them.

One drop box per county, regardless of the size of the county. Granted our counties aren't as big as 4 million people, but still it's ridiculous.

They're so blatant in their voter suppression efforts now. They're not even trying to hide the fact that they're so turned on by the thought of an authoritarian regime instead of a Democratic Republic.

Abbott gave an excuse of the pandemic, but this decision actually makes things worse. People who could have voted by mail may now be forced to vote in person or wait in long lines to be checked in to drop off a mail ballot. Austin has set aside an entire downtown garage so people can line up to drop off their ballots. This is nothing more than voter suppression. I’m so fed up with these Republicans who think they have a right to be in power forever, regardless of what voters want.

Beto's coattails delivered these and other wins despite his loss. TX Repubs are hell bent on Harris County not recording that type of outsized win for Democrats in 2020. The GOP has no f**king shame.

I presume Texas law is close to what the law is in other states. The operating officer for elections is the Secretary of State. Now he could issue such an order by how can the Governor issue an order like that? I don't see where he has the legal authority to issue that order - and this is why.
