Trump, Biden skip handshakes, social distance at podiums for debate in shadow of coronavirus pandemic

President Trump and Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden will not shake hands at their first debate next week in Ohio due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, campaign sources told Politico.

The move is one of several adjustments the campaigns are ironing out to comply with social distances guidelines. An elbow-bump was considered but both campaigns decided that it would awkward.

far away from Biden. The room was big/airy but there's still a possibility of Biden having breathed it in. We can only know when tests come back.

She wore a mask. The pro-plague party did not. Not a single mask among them. Melania or Hope -> Jill -> Joe.

I am not saying transmission is guaranteed but I won't rest easy for at least a week and not be super confident for two.

7. One good thing is testing was done before the debates

and both Trump and Biden tested negative... we have to hope Trump got it after the debate. Even if Hicks had then she didn't speak and was far away.

8. Trump probably got it before the debate, but was not yet contagious.

It takes a few days after initial infection until one starts shedding the virus in one's own body.

10. The tests have high false negatives in the asymptomic phase.

Remember Hick tested negative on Tuesday too and she certainly was already infectious.

It is very possible Hicks got it something like 7 days ago and Trump and Melania something like 4 days ago.

12. But, normally, you don't get really contageous until a couple of days before symptoms occur...

...so, if Trump is still asymptomatic, it may be unlikely that Biden would have got it from him.
