Constitution, and try to delay the election hoping this goes to the SC, and that the court will rule for them

If that happened, there is absolutely no justification for the SC to delay the election

The Constitution makes it very clear when the election is, and when the winner of that election MUST be sworn in

So trump voters gotta thing, how do we vote> We being told mail in not safe and not in person voting has risk they have all dismissed as well

If Donnie flat-lines between now and Election Day, the Republican have Mike Pence and a vacancy.

I suspect that Joe and Kamala would do very well against Father Pence.

We've had sick presidents run for reelection before.

Also Covid 19 is temporary.
Wilbur Ross had it and did fine.

Trump has the best doctors.

His in person campaign events will be put on hold. (That's the good part!)

Unfortunately, even if he dies his name will still be on the ballot in almost every jurisdiction.

Keeps Proud boys and dirty tricks off the front page. Mission accomplished. Until I see a test done by an independent doctor and lab I remain skeptical.

I do not want them to have it, I hope they recover if they do, I just do not believe anything that comes out of this White House.

And you know that people don’t pay attention. Also, the scenario of a president dying 45 days before or after an election is pretty specific.

if this were for any other office it's clear b/c we vote for a specific person. Constitutionally, in a presidential election we vote for electors who then choose the president. The SC has ruled electors are beholden to pick the popular vote candidate. If that candidate is incapable of holding office it is unclear how beholden the electors are. There is a very large gray area for repukes, state legislators, and Barr to really mess things up. I don't have the confidence that repukes won't blow through that gray area that you seem to have.

I continue to be amazed by the lack of basic understanding of Civics and our Constitution. I would have hoped that folks posting on a political forum would be more informed and have at least read the Constitution.

I find this all exceptionally sad.

The election goes on. Citizens happily vote for electors whether they know it or not. Things get crazy if Trump dies, especially if he wins. If he has the majority of electors, they need to choose someone with a majority. If they can’t, it goes on as if no one reaches 270.

I understand that a live lazy lying steaming pile hump on the ballot won't change anything but an incapacitated or dead one? That is the clarity I'm seeking but there really doesn't seem to be a clear path.

But if Trump wins 270+, 270 of them have to vote for the same person some day in December. If they can’t reach 270, it’s the same as no one getting a majority on Election Day.

If the president-elect dies after electors vote, the VP becomes president on 1/20. In theory, the electors could vote for the dead guy and let this happen, though I’d have to see if the constitution allows it.
