There is a growing anger evident on my TV this morning.

There is more backlash than sympathy. No one is celebrating any person's illness, but there is a lot of anger over the behavior of Trump and those around him.

The Trump family refusing to wear masks at the debate.
The White House trying to keep Hope Hick's positive test and illness from the public.
The White House not notifying the Biden Campaign.
Trump campaigning in New Jersey on Thursday.
Kayleigh McEnany holding a press briefing after known exposure.

All on top of the 8 months of lying, denial, and irresponsible behavior..

I want to see the occupant of the White House go down in a CRUSHING, HUMILIATING landslide of historic Goldwateresque proportions. Then I hope he endures a LO-O-O-O-ONNNNnng lingering debilitating battle against the virus. I want him to experience the pain and suffering that more than 200,000 Americans have felt because of his incompetence and lust for power. Then I hope he has a quick embarrassing trial, followed by LENGTHY prison terms, all of which combines to reduce him and his spawn to the level of a beggar on the streets.

Fri Oct 2, 2020, 09:57 AM
Oct 2020

All those ChumpHumpers need to realize that when someone is asymptomatic - they HAVE THE VIRUS! They are exposing other people and getting others sick.

That's exactly what Chump, Hope Hicks, and Chump's entire family were doing. I'm certain that they knew Hope was sick before yesterday. It didn't just happen after the debate. White House employees get tested regularly, at least once or twice a week, so Hope had to be tested. They kept it quiet that she was positive, until it was leaked to Bloomberg. By then she was really sick, but she had already exposed many others including Chump and his family.

If you're asymptomatic, you have the virus. You're giving it to other people including your family and friends. Wake up America. Stay home, wear a mask whenever you go out, whenever you are with other people. Practice social distancing always, wash hands regularly. We could all be asymptomatic and there's no vaccine or cure available.

Trump Says He Will Quarantine After Aide Falls Ill With Virus

Hicks traveled with Trump aboard Air Force One to and from the presidential debate in Cleveland on Tuesday and to a Minnesota rally on Wednesday. She felt poorly in Minnesota and quarantined aboard the presidential plane on the way home, according to people familiar with the matter.

The people asked not to be identified because Hicks’s infection had not been publicly announced until Trump’s interview. Messages left for Hicks were not immediately returned.

So that would be a case where if he had not been inside the WH in a more closed-in setting and maskless to meet with Barrett and/or others (which is something that a subset of that crowd did), then this is an example of the "confusion" of what a mask does in this instance.

I.e., the phrase "My mask protects you and your mask protects me" because unless you have some kind of N95/KN95 mask on, then you can still inhale fine particulate-shed coronavirus through that mask, although your own droplets would be trapped in the mask, with limited spread coming from yourself.

If he's gravely ill, I have no pity whatsoever. The man has caused suffering and death across the country, so now he's getting a dose of what he's defiantly denied. His recklessness has come back to bite him. Let's see how he spins his own illness to his supporters because just the other day he was bloviating that the pandemic was ending.

For Joe Biden, this proves his point: no one is safe from a Covid infection, not even Trump or his inner circle. Safety protocols (which I understand have been ignored in the WH) limit exposure and spread. The lack of transparency is outrageous because Trump, reckless as ever, attended a fundraiser in NJ after Hope Hicks tested positive.

Karma is alive and right now she's squatting in the White House.

Fri Oct 2, 2020, 12:09 PM
Oct 2020

Why?

Because this arrogant, lazy, ignorant, predatory tub of guts couldn't be bothered to do his fucking job in the first place.

And then, when doing nothing didn't pan out as an option, he lied. He lied again and again and again and again, about the disease, about vaccines, about therapies, about infection rates, and about how dangerous it was.

And then, to score cheap political points, he encouraged - fucking encouraged - heavily armed morons to show up in crowds to demand that states be "opened" or "liberated" or whatever the fuck it was he spewed by tweet or in person.

And then, so his delicate little sociopathic fee-fees wouldn't be hurt, he traveled from city to city and rally to rally so that the unmasked masses could bask in his glorious presence, worshiping their only True God in the sweaty, pancaked flesh.

And now the Piper's at the door, and he will be paid.

Fuck Trump, fuck his family and fuck his sycophants and enablers and voters, now and forever.

Trump still thinks he's the smartest one in the room at any given time and may well not not listen to ANY doctor's medical advise. I certainly hope he doesn't. One thing is for sure, some of the people in his orbit are going to get ill and at least a few, Like Wilbur Ross, perhaps seriously so.

What are they going to do when he get bored after being caged for a week or so and strolls out into public again? Will his staff run for the exits? The ones still not sick I mean....

He could demand a press conference and not in the Rose, or whatever the hell it is now, Garden.

The worst thing that could happen from our angle is for him to rapidly recover. Would he do so and still not wear a mask and would any of his staff or aides get within the same room with him anymore? I sure wouldn't, the job isn't worth it.

I've seen him on Fox be critical of trump before... He may be smoldering.

My biggest concern is for Joe, Jill and his team, the others who were part of stage prep and such. That wretched monster and his team exposed countless people pre symptoms and then of course when symptoms appeared. I am very worried about the Bidens, and I am ticked off!

104. Here's what Wallace has said for the moment:
Fri Oct 2, 2020, 12:58 PM
Oct 2020
"You can bet — I've already been asked by a lot of people — I'm going to have to get a test," Wallace said in an appearance on "Fox & Friends."

"Because although I think I was far enough away, you know, we all take that question: 'Were you exposed to somebody who was has tested positive for Covid?' The answer is yes," he said.

Wallace acknowledged that "the three people on that stage" Tuesday night in Cleveland "were all 70-plus" and "in the high-risk factor" of elderly people more likely to have complications from the virus.

"Certainly there was no sign during the debate of any problems with the president, in terms of his health," Wallace said. "But it is worth noting that the different people treated the safety rules inside the hall differently."

“I've always been disturbed, frankly, that people think the mask is a political issue and wearing the mask or not wearing the mask says something about your politics,” he said, pointing out that health experts call mask-wearing one of the surest means for fighting the virus until a vaccine is ready.

57. Most human beings are decent and can manage sympathy, even for fools. Trump is different.
Fri Oct 2, 2020, 10:54 AM
Oct 2020

There were folks proposing that there would be an outpouring of sympathy and it might benefit Trump. The reality is that while most of us have been taught not to wish ill on people or to celebrate misfortune, there is a difference and there are conditions under which sympathy is the emotional state evoked. Even tragic heroes, people who are not that sympathetic, but who were trying to better themselves and their situation will elicit sympathy. For instance, Eric Garner had a criminal record. He was selling cigarettes which he knew was illegal, etc...etc... BUT, He did not have to die! especially in such a horrible and needless manner. We could look past Mr. Garner's various troubles and see the humanity that was snuffed out. Not so much with Trump.

People like Trump and his family, who have a pattern of using others, of deceit, of malfeasance and maleficence, who have particularly, on this issue, had a major hand in the death of 210,000 of our fellow Americans; wouldn't garner support except from those who align themselves with his way of thinking and doing. As I said yesterday, Democratic leaders have expressed well wishes, because they are decent people. However, Trump is not a sympathetic figure in any possible way. I think that they had no choice but to reveal the status, but they probably thought they could spin it and elicit some kind of support. The thing is, you have to have a shred of humanity in order to elicit sympathy.

IMHO Trump getting seriously will destabilize the government and create election havoc. It might garner some sympathy. I hear he’s already fundraising off his diagnosis. Trump not getting seriously ill and recovering quickly will be used to downplay COVID, leading to more deaths. He’ll claim the coronavirus is just the flu, or act like he’s superhuman.

The news is saying Trump has some mild symptoms. He did looked like hell during the debate on Tuesday (flushed, sweaty), even though he supposedly only tested positive yesterday.

86. Caligula, again!
Fri Oct 2, 2020, 11:53 AM
Oct 2020

Early in his reign, Caligula was laid low with some near-lethal fever...a common enough occurrence for anyone in Rome at the time. He was still pretty popular at that point, and the citizenry were concerned. Sacrifices were made at the various temples, huge public entreaties for his deliverance were staged. He got over the illness, but he was changed. Note had been taken of anyone who wasn't fervid enough in their god-bothering. One particular person had offered to sacrifice himself for his Emperor's life.
Caligula demanded that he follow through.
For some reason, he's been on my mind quite a bit in the last four years.
