Pence deep in prayer following Trump diagnosis

“Oh, Lord, I’ve done so much for you. All I ask is just this one little thing....”

(FYI, in case it’s not obvious:
This picture of Mike Pence praying with the Coronavirus Task Force is from earlier this year.)

8. 25th Amendment could come into play soon

If Chump should be really incapacitated, for example if he goes on a respirator, then Pence becomes temporary POTUS until Chump recovers. Same thing happened when Reagan was shot, but it only lasted for less than 24 hours. (As I recall, but maybe it was a little longer.)

Meanwhile Pence can call the Cabinet together and they could decide that Chump is permanently incapacitated. If the Secretaries (Cabinet members) should vote accordingly, Pence could be named the permanent POTUS. It's outlined in the 25th Amendment of the Constitution but this scenario has never actually happened. Of course I'm giving the short version, and many people on DU have studied the law, and have a better idea how it would work. It's all unprecedented so I'm sure there would be many appeals and challenges to the legality.

It could get very interesting!
