We are obviously very light on details from the White House on what is going on with Trump but there are reports coming out that make me think he is far more sick than they are letting on. I'm not an infectious disease expert, just a GP, but I am seeing some concerning signs that Trump is getting hit hard with COVID. I do 100% believe he has it, BTW. Any speculation that it's all made up seems extremely unlikely to me. Regardless, here are a few things that are concerning me
1. People keep saying Trump hasn't been on Twitter since 1:00am, which is 14 hours ago as I am typing this. However, his tweets since yesterday afternoon don't sound like they were actually typed by him. That is something they have admitted and is pretty standard for politicians. Not every tweet from their account is from the actual politican. And in this case, I think Trump went totally dark over 24 hours ago.
2. The White House has said that they are using experimental drugs to treat Trump. That sounds to me like it's just not a minor set of symptoms. Again, take some of this with a grain of salt but they aren't likely to go straight to experimental drugs just 14 hours after trump supposedly tested positive and last tweeted. And they have been claiming until about a half hour ago that symptoms were "mild". Combined with point 1, I believe he has been showing pretty severe symptoms for the past day at least.
3. The most recent update from Trump's doctor went from "minor symptoms" to "fatigued". Sounds like it's getting worse and quickly.
4. People around the white house are reportedly freaking out and saying the election is lost. If Trump had minor symptoms, like a cold or flu, and was expected to bounce back quickly, why the panic? Keep in mind, it's not panic about themselves getting sick. It's panic that the election is lost. The fact that they were keeping this all a secret until Bloomberg.com got the info leaked about anyone testing positive is also very suspicious. I do wonder if they saw Donald Trump in worse shape than they care to admit over the past day or two.
5. He's clearly a very unhealthy person under a lot of physical and emotional stress. You all know what that points to but it's important to keep in mind he is very high risk, even with a team of doctors with him 24/7.
As I said, all speculation but I'm seeing a lot of warning signs that Trump is in far worse shape and had been so for longer than they are admitting.

(77,276 posts)today. Just cough and a fever. Which to me sounds like
C-19.
Trump is 74, has heart disease, morbidly obese, and I think he had a stroke or TIA last year. Because of his Sunday afternoon trip to Walter Reed.
Btw I think he has had C-19 for a while now too.

Not that it could happen, but it would be just for him to realize how truly evil he is. Were there justice, hed be doing so while performing hard labor at a federal penitentiary for the rest of his natural days.

(2,116 posts)I've had the flu and struggled to walk from the couch to the kitchen, but if I had a medical staff and needed to bullshit the public for a 30 yard walk, with some IV meds I could probably fake it until I got to the hospital.
The guy is a liar and a charlatan but I am 100% in agreement with the good doctor who authored the original post. I think it is much more serious than they are letting on. "Mild symptoms" = high fever and shortness of breath.
Also agree that an experimental treatment is a risky and desperate measure as a first line of treatment, even for CV-19.
RazzleCat
(732 posts)I also think it is worse than they are saying because I was under the impression that the White House had a full medical facility on site. No not the same as a hospital, but still way more than just an average physician's office. So in my mind, sort of either needing or anticipating the need for some heavy duty equipment (thinking ventilator), he would have stayed there.
ResistantAmerican17
(4,188 posts)Who said Friday they started feeling bad, and went to the hospital and died Tuesday. And drumph scoffed, lied, and ridiculed them because they werent his type of people, and they were dying of something anyway. Guess what, the fuckers number finally got called. (22,560 posts)I agree that he wouldn't agree to go to the hospital unless he absolutely had to. To him, getting sick is an admission of weakness, and weakness is one of the things he most hates and fears. It's anathema to him. He's probably suffering as much from embarrassment right now as from covid.
I don't care how "good" he looked walking to the chopper. He's in bad shape, or he would NEVER have gone.

(63,221 posts)It makes a lot of sense to me. I don't want to get my hopes up, but I really hope he is gravely ill.
I can't imagine that someone in his shape and age could possibly survive this virus. No matter how much power and money he has. It seems like once this virus has you, and you are physically weak, you are not long for this world.

(63,221 posts)He is 74, morbidly obese, has high BP and cholesterol, is a flaming drug addict, has a terrible diet, doesn't exercise and to top it all off he is a rageaholic. Where are you getting your info from? He is the classic profile for a Covid death.
Mariana
(15,623 posts)Most people who die of Covid-19 are like him, but most people like him who get Covid-19 don't die.
The CDC has said recently that the current best estimate for the fatality rate for people aged 70 and up is 5.4%.
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/planning-scenarios.html#table-1
Yes, that doesn't account for co-morbidities, but a huge percentage of people over 70 have co-morbidities - for example, about 25% have diabetes, 65% have hypertension, 35% are obese, etc. Yet, 94.6% of people over 70 who get Covid-19 survive it.
smirkymonkey
(63,221 posts)But he is also a lifelong drug addict. That has to work against him. There is nothing healthy about this guy. It might just be wishful thinking on my part, but I think it will be a miracle if he pulls through in perfect health.
Mariana
(15,623 posts)I suspect you're right, his individual chance of dying of Covid-19 is much higher than the estimate the CDC published - but he's still more likely to live than to die. It really isn't looking good for him at all, if the stories about his rapidly worsening symptoms are to be believed.
getagrip_already
(17,802 posts)I can't think of any category he isn't in that increases risk. The only way his chances could be worse is if he were over 80.
Now granted, a lot of seniors with other conditions survive, but only after a looooong fight, and they often have severe ongoing health issues.

Trump gonna slumber up ready for his Mansion, streets of gold, 72 Virgins and a throne by God with a prop Bible Ivanka packed for him. He gonna meet Ruth, she is gonna say, about that dying wish of mine, the one McConnell said was a legal request 4 years ago. We are gonna need you to head down to the basement. And a heads up, it is not hair spray friendly down there. Go on now, Be Best you not linger here.

(55,055 posts)From my amateur armchair, borderline conditions might be CHF and its heart-lung insufficiencies, weight problems. There's a lot of gut there to get infected, and that places stress on body systems. That's why they're going so heavily on medications so early in his diagnosis. If they don't head it off early, it could be very serious indeed, in my view.
panfluteman
(2,193 posts)And what I saw was astounding. Donald Trump was born about an hour or so before the full moon, aligning along 21degrees Sagittarius (Moon) and 22 degrees Gemini(Sun). The Gemini / Sagittarius axis is the Respiratory Axis in Medical Astrology, and Trump's Sun and Moon opposing so tightly along this axis predisposes him to respiratory weakness and pathology. Furthermore, house-wise, this crucial opposition aligns along the fifth house (Moon) / eleventh house (Sun) axis, which corresponds to the Leo / Aquarius Circulatory Axis. This also shows a vulnerability to circulatory pathology in later life, and having Uranus tightly conjunct his Gemini / eleventh house Sun, corresponding to the eleventh sign Aquarius, which rules the peripheral vascular system, predisposes him to strokes and cerebrovascular pathology as well. We know that COVID attacks both the heart and lungs, the respiratory and circulatory systems, and also makes strokes a lot more likely.
But the real zinger is that the transiting axis of the lunar nodes is just now coming in to a conjunction with the natal lunar nodes of Donald Trump, the transiting north lunar node conjuncting his natal north lunar node in Gemini, and the transiting south lunar mode opposing it to conjunct Trump's natal south lunar node in Sagittarius, and is right now very exact when the one degree correction for equinocital precession since Trump's birth (the vernal equinox point precesses or moves backwards at one degree every 72 years). The transiting north lunar node is now at 23 degrees of Gemini - minus one degree to correct for equinoctial precession and you get 22 degrees of Gemini - exactly conjunct Trump's natal north lunar node.
The bottom line is that this could be very, very serious for Trump.
But astrology aside, I have also gone by another, much simpler formula when it comes to statements by Trump and/or the White House: Whatever they say, I know that the exact opposite is probably true.
Sogo
(7,186 posts)that by the time of the election, Trump will be "out of the picture." He would never elaborate on that statement, but I think it's becoming clear what he's meant....

but earlier this year I had what was described as "mild covid" symptoms. Not covid - I was tested 2x. I had a fever over 100 for 2 months, for 8 days straight a fever of 104. Jesus, I could barely walk to the car to go to the clinic, I looked and felt like ass. Couldn't even put a damn bra on and brush my hair, much less the production it takes to get Trump ready for tv. I needed a wheel chair and I am still struggling. And that was called freaking mild.
He is probably freaking out and would rather be seen going to walter reed on his own rather than being taken out on a stretcher.
Not saying he can't go downhill, but I think right now it is more of a freakout
Jon King
(1,910 posts)I was also thinking this until I saw the video and him walking to the chopper. I think it is just the opposite. I think he is a big, scared coward who never had a thing go wrong in his life. Insider reports said he was "spooked".
I think he is a hypochondriac who is so scared that he demanded to go Walter Reed and his staff had no choice. Sadly, I expect him to be right back to be his awful self within a week or 2. I was hoping for the best when I heard he had been given the experimental cocktail and he had not tweeted. Now I think we just have a big, fat baby whose symptoms will get no worse than a bad flu.
He will be out there bragging he had the worst case and beat it, that he survived the China flu and can now take on Chine, blah, blah, blah. I hope that I am wrong but I doubt our nightmare is over.
