Do they need a little time to find a body double who can walk to the helicopter and doesn't have to be carried on a stretcher?

they aren't sure what's going to happen.

Could be that he stumbles walking while trying to look like he can make or even falls. They don't know.

Could be they want time to spin if he comes out in a wheelchair or a gurney.

It's most certainly not because he has minor symptoms and will walk out more or less normally.
