(2,847 posts)they played up the RW 'point's of him being senile or forgetful, which I did not see happen in that forum.
Me.
(35,454 posts)THey laugh at each other's skit in the writer's room and so they think their skits are actually funny.

(18,402 posts)Playing into the senile-fool trope that the Republicans are pushing.
The only good thing about the Carey impersonation is the makeup and the intonation. The shtick is neither funny nor good satire. Satire is supposed to contain a grain of truth.
And the Trump portrayal was also a fail. Way too restrained. I mean that guy was talking like a speed freak in the real debate. Here, they had him uttering one word interjections occasionally.
Meh

(6,467 posts)"Woman as President", as stated by Kamala Harris (played by Maya Rudolph).
She came out during the debate skit, told them to behave themselves, reminded them that there would be PB&J and apple slices after the debate, and for Chris Wallace to report to her after (oooohhhhh!).
It was the best part!

Could be a great fundraiser for an enterprising campaign.
and lots of yard signs. I rewatched the segment again on my computer. It was even better the second time. One of the best SNL sketches I've ever seen or maybe it was just the perfect show at the right time, expressing what so many people are feeling.

(6,143 posts)but its not Joe Biden. They should have kept Jason Sudeikis. He did a great Biden.
PatSeg
(53,214 posts)and it really was over-the-top in many ways, but I always found Sudeikis's Biden much too mellow and rather dopey. Carrey's version has more life, though I could have done without the senile inferences.
Trumpocalypse
(6,143 posts)but it doesnt seem in any way like Biden. More of a generic cranky old man.
PatSeg
(53,214 posts)When Baldwin was being obnoxious, Carrey did the Biden smile much like Joe did during the debate. I also liked when he would almost lose his temper and then dial it back. The 007 entrance was priceless, I have a picture of Joe doing that back in 2008.
The Science-Karma bit and the pausing Trump were brilliant - "Trumplessness".

Jim Carrey's impression is lousy. They didn't really capture the absurdities of the original debate. Just unfunny all around.

(4,654 posts)Jim Carrey, he seemed like he was trying too hard. I like his art and Tweets, but I was never a fan of his on TV or in the movies, except for the Truman Show.
Chris Rock, who I usually love, was all over the place. Ill stick around for the news.
