I am so overwhelmed I have nothing to say.

Usually in the morning I wake and I have a few thoughts on my brain which I codify during my hour drive to work and then occasionally post here. Yes, it’s like a vanity press, but hey, what the hell?

I awakened this morning and realize that we are so far gone, that there is really nothing left to say. If this were scripted, and made into a series such as West Wing, and watched by millions, the Writers would deserve to win every Golden Globe, every award known to man with respect to writing including the Nobel prize for literature. No one could possibly conceive this story line as it has unfolded. Every day new plot elements, new characters who are more corrupt and evil than those introduced the previous day, incredible irony and twists of fate and connectivity so intricate that one requires a massive flow chart in order to keep everything straight.

The only certainty however, is that no matter how powerful or seemingly-powerful an individual is, eventually they leave this mortal coil. Pharaohs, Ghengis Kahn, the Caesars, Hitler, Stalin, Ceaucescu, all of them eventually depart.

To paraphrase a famous film line: in the end it all works out, and if it hasn’t worked out it means that it isn’t the end yet.

Suddenly realized that all 5 skandas are completely empty.
And so Shariputra, form is emptiness, and emptiness is form.
Form is no other than emptiness, and emptiness is no other than form.
The same is true of feelings, perception, mental formations, and consciousness.
All are emptiness."

The past three years under Trump have been an incessant assault guaranteed to cause stress, anxiety, and utter outrage for thinking people who care about their country and the rest of humanity. This year’s events have doubled that assault. At some point, it becomes difficult to verbalize the outrage or to react normally at all. I’m at the numb stage where very little is amusing (and I normally love to laugh) and nothing much surprises. I watched the SNL open from last night and found nothing about it funny. That’s a sad state of affairs, but I’m just living for the election to be over so that we know whether to have hope once again or whether we have the fight of our lives on our hands.

..No one is "invincible", but Donald Trump thought he was. No precautions because it couldn't happen
to "invincible Donald." Proves beyond any doubt how stupid Donald is. Also, those that followed him,
they took no precautions either.. Maybe following Donald Trump is/was also ..""STUPID""

Me too. I have been a tower of strength during COVID and Trumpsterville. I have done so much for so many and now emptied out. Two good friends died in the last two weeks and now other family issues have emerged that do not portend well for my future.

I did get through the Oregon fires too and all the smoke and the fire threats to my house and my ER visit for my heart event. And its the little things too like my sewing machine is on the fritz suddenly and I can't finish a gold super cape for my granddaughter who lives far away who I haven't seen in almost a year. I am not able to sleep anymore.

Right now I just need Trump to end and to see a new light at the end of this long dark tunnel.
Joe's speech in Michigan was the best thing of this whole awful week!

Ceaucescu, of course, famously escaped his executive mansion by helicopter, dying shortly thereafter, albeit by execution and not disease.

Hang in their our friend; it is going to end badly for them, one way or another.

The fact that there are many of us who are questioning whether it's even true or not tells me all I need to know about the place our country is in. My siblings and I who are all in our seventies keep talking about how our long dead parents would look at this country now if they came back. Every time my 75-year old sister calls me she starts the conversation by saying, "Is that fucker dead yet?" We laugh and then she says, "I can't believe you and I even talk like this about a president" and yet neither one of us is sorry we do or ashamed.

I just want Joe and Jill and Kamala to make it OK for me to turn the TV on in the morning and not have to hear or see those ugly people ever again.

I keep trying to remember what my signature line says:

“Remember that all through history, there have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they seem invincible. But in the end, they always fall. Always.” Gandhi

Obviously, some days it is hard to keep that in mind.

Sun Oct 4, 2020, 01:08 PM

a career full of contemptible moments.

He was interviewing a group of Romanian workers and farmers a few days after Ceaucescu was gone. They told their stories, then he admonished them saying maybe it wasn't really that bad and asking them if maybe they had overreacted.

They gasped and looked at each other. They were speechless and confused, but like a group of small town Iowans, impossibly polite. They weakly tried to explain it again, but his message was clear: you don't even own your own history, your own perceptions.

So beware: at the end of the story comes a Ted.
