When I was admitted to the hospital the first thing they did was give me a medical gown and put me on all kinds of monitors. I had tubes inserted into my veins...I COULD not go anywhere without my clothes... It was checked into security including my purse, wallet, rings, and wrist watch.
I don't know how the PRESIDENT gets to ride around in a car, wears a suit... IS he really Ill or is this all theatre?? I don't know.

(35,359 posts)and had a wood-paneled conference room with a nice wood conference table?
I know I was glad to have my own bathroom. Such as it was. Now, if they had managed to not try to starve me. "I keep more or less kosher. No pork." "Okay." And 30 minutes later, "Here's dinner. A porkchop over the potatoes and green beans with bacon." I ate the orange.
Next morning, sausage over eggs with a biscuit positioned to soak up all that nice porky goodness from the sausage ... that the eggs didn't soak up. I ate the banana on the side.
An hour later, a psych eval. Am I trying to starve myself to death? Right, that's what you tell somebody who's underweight because he's wildly hyperthyroid. "No pig. Kosher." The psychologist was Jewish. He wasn't amused. (Humorously, the first response from the rest of the staff after that was to put me on a heparin drip. Heparin's from pig liver. Hateful bastard scum. Still don't know if they were just terminally stupid or decided to screw over the Jew. Joke's on them. Torah-observant Irish-American.)
I can only wonder if they brought in Burger King for Trump.

His nonchalance about the disease will (psychologically) betray whether or not he really had an infection. He is beginning to betray himself.

(37,163 posts)Answer either of these questions:
1) What superpower are you the president of?
2) How many billion dollars do you have?
If your answer to either of those is not "none", then you have the answer to your question.

No one can control him.
I would bet it is madness over in the presidential suite.

(35,359 posts)They told me I had to check out--no leaving without permission.
At the same time, federal law said I could leave whenever I damned well pleased. Otherwise it's kidnapping.
Same in my classroom. Students are not allowed to leave without permission. Closed campus, so they can't leave the building or grounds. At the same time, restraining them or blocking them is illegal. They buy the fiction.
Now, had I left the hospital without checking out it's like leaving a very expensive hotel without checking out. Bill?
To disobey the doctor's orders requires a psych eval and commitment? Ooohhh... Submit to authority or you're a dissident and need to be committed. Don't know if it's Hitlerian or an echo of the KGB's Lublyanka. People forget that authoritarianism comes in a few different flavors.

(61,712 posts)Oxygen tank? Monitors? When you're the prez they go to more trouble than for the rest of us. Of course it's inconvenient and irresponsible. He doesn't care.

(53,907 posts)That doctor yesterday gave evasive answers and a rosy outlook to his prognosis. We've all seen his behavior during those covid task force presentations. He just bullied and dominated everyone. Why would it be different with him as a patient trying to give off an impression of strength?
He ordered the publicity stunt motorcade rid around the hospital to wave to the crowd. No doctor would allow that of anyone else, and no sentient president would've even thought to do such a think.
It might yet come back to bite trump as the virus takes hold after the first few days. I'm betting he won't be going home tomorrow as has been floated out there.

(41,864 posts)I know what the nurses would say to me if I gave them a bad time.. I hated it, cause first of all this hospital had a very decent menu ...and yet the KITCHEN would send me a bowl of chicken broth...sorry...you can't eat this, sorry you can't have that, no this is too much you can't have that.. AND THAT WAS THE KITCHEN STAFF...i had to get my FLOOR nurse to order my food... the KITCHEN didn't care if I starved to death, I wasn't their problem.
