Republicans gripped by dread as multiple crises swirl
The presidency, control of the Senate and even a quick confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett are all in doubt less than a month from the election.

A senior Republican congressional official spoke for many by arguing that the handling of the issue over the weekend was incredibly worrying, but that it was too early to judge whether the issue further jeopardizes Trumps reelection chances, the Barrett nomination or GOP control of the Senate.
The official added one caveat, a scenario that he believed would crush the GOP on Nov. 3.
He added, That could turn this into a death spiral.

(38,726 posts)I bring this up again to warn people, it could be..Not it is...
In 1972 I worked for George McGovern and I worked a lot. Door to door, doing other work, and spending a lot
of time on that election. The night we lost, many said it would be all over for the Democratic Party. Well...
in 1976 we won with Jimmy Carter..
Even if Trump loses big, it wont be the end because they have unlimited money, an organization, and elected
political thugs like McConnell and much more. It will look bad, but the losers will blame it on Trump and for
a while, there will be moderate and honest leaders. (unlike Trump) ..Then it will revert back to what it was and is
now.....At least that is my opinion ...for what it is worth.....

(1,654 posts)It will look bad for a while but the money people will come around and sprinkle their money juices for fertilizer and the word smiths will plant their lies and half truths and the money people will sprinkle it some more and that fallow Republican field will bloom again - unfortunately. Heck, remember the Republican autopsy only about 7 years ago? Couldn't pass a simple immigration bill - but suddenly it was the Dems fault and the Republicans bloomed again. So we have to pay attention. ALEC and others with big pockets will spend money and fertilize the local races down to school boards and county councils and boom! all of a sudden where did all these Republicans come from, and the word smiths know will phrase those talking points locally so that unions become bad and undercover bosses are so good to those little people on the TV (such nice guys). Excuse me, I didn't mean to rant.
