the only way to know is to try to culture the virus and see if it will grow.

11. If he's still contagious that means his PCR test was positive,

because that's what the test looks for. Viruses aren't alive in the conventional sense of the word; they are only able to replicate in a cell or not. If enough viruses are present that replication will be sufficient to cause infection, the test will be positive.

The reporters are still trying to press Conley for information about when Trump got and (and when he really knew he had it), not asking whether he is virus-free (which he wouldn't be at this time).
