Message change, perhaps. Desirable outcome for Trump? Hardly.

For about the last two weeks it’s become apparent to me that Pandora’s box is going to close when it’s damned good and ready to. I normally lament that Teflon don manages to get away Scott free again, but they’ve completely lost control of the messaging at this point.

He’s flailing. This is all happening at the worst possible time for him, and we closed the barn door on normal way back.

COVID is an AWFUL issue for Trump. As lind as we’re talking about COVID, he’s losing. Bigly.

He was doing everything he could to change the subject from COVID. Now... good luck with that!

Like literally zero impact. The soldier bounty story has been known for a couple months and didn't impact his approval. The taxes likely wouldn't have, either.

The only thing that has hurt Trump's approval has been the talk about COVID + race relations. Those are the only two stories that have penetrated his support and where Biden has surged in the polls.

His administration is imploding, and the public broadly despises his response to recent events. Not sure that's a distraction.

There's only a month to go until the election. This does not look good for him.

If he survives, the tax issue is still going to be there to put him in jail after the American public boots him out of office.
