If he stays in WR through the whole course of the disease and survives, he still loses the presidency and his life is over. If he pretends to fight off the COVID and, in a one-in-a-million (billion?) shot actually fakes it until he makes it, he probably wins the presidency and goes down in history as the Aryan Ubermensch he believes himslf to be. In his royded-up brain that probably sounds like a good gamble.

(34,857 posts)I agree that the optics are better for him to be handling this at the White House than WR. I think his biggest mistake, he realizes, was going to WR and now he's trying to correct it. We'll see how things go at the White House. Either way, we're not going to being seeing much of Trump the next couple weeks.

(4,130 posts)Not him in the flesh maybe, but a never-ending stream of surrogates will invade our living rooms with the latest breathless updates. They are going to milk this for every second of coverage they possibly can.

(34,857 posts)...is going to hurt him. Look at how antsy people got at just a couple days of not really getting substantive news about Trump's condition. Just wait when Friday rolls around and we've seen little of Trump. Then wait even more when the presidential debate hits and Trump still hasn't left the White House.

Im in danger of a schadenfreude overdose.
