Alabama US Senate poll: Tommy Tuberville has 12-point lead on Doug Jones

The poll found 54% of respondents favoring Tuberville, a former Auburn head football coach. 42% favored Jones, with some stark differences among different groups.

Tuberville led with most voters over the age of 45, getting about 65% from voters aged 45 to 54 and 62% from voters aged 55 to 64. Jones did his best with voters under the age of 44, getting 49% of the 35 to 44 demographic to Tuberville’s 48%, and 53% of the 25 to 34 demographic, with Tuberville getting 41%.

Among white registered voters, Tuberville led 70% to Jones’ 28%, with 3% undecided. Among Black voters, Jones led 81% to 12%, with 7% undecided. The poll found Tuberville leading with men (55% to 41%) and women (53% to 43%).

In the presidential election, President Donald Trump got the support of just about 57% of respondents, while Democratic nominee Joe Biden, the former vice president, got 37% of the vote. 6% were undecided. The poll found about 62% of those polled approved or strongly approved of Trump’s performance.

Insanity. Is 12 points reachable? And Trump up by 20 points? WTF?

A Democrat has to run against a child molester in order to win in Alabama, and even then it'll be really close.

Don't elect a sleazebag like Tuberville. Elect the experienced lawmaker, don't elect the football coach.

Politics is still a racial game in Alabama. Granted, that's true nationally and regionally but it's amplified in Alabama.

While watching a public TV piece on Emmitt Till tonight, the feelings voiced by the white Mississippians decrying Till and the prosecution of murderers didn't sound alien at all. They sound similar to sentiments I still hear expressed down here.

As Faulkner said, "the past isn't dead; it isn't even past."

I don't live in Alabama, but I'm very discouraged about this race.

Here's a link that I hope works to an ad that really seems to sum it up.

Perhaps he can still help the Democrats in Alabama if he loses. I prefer more liberal in Biden’s cabinet, but maybe he could get something like Sec of VA or Attorney General (he has a good civil rights record).

It took a Republican candidate being a fucking child molester for them to lose and still only barely.

Jones made the morally correct choice to impeach Trump. Those dolts were going to throw him out no matter what he did anyway and he probably realized that.

Doug would be a great addition to a Biden administration and transition team. Still hoping for some kind of turn. I am surprised that there are so many women would vote against Jones.

Alabama is a disastrous state for you to live in, if you are African-American. Auburn and Alabama are able to recruit the talent to its football programs because of a combination of talented athletes growing up in poverty looking for a way to lift their families out of it (think Trent Richardson when he played for UA), and boosters that line the pockets of their families to get them to play at the schools.

Are you bored today or something? Focus on Florida. You all cannot even register to vote down there. Machines crashing and all. A Governor that wants to infect everybody. We are GOOD in Michigan and Gary Peters is too.

Take Care.

Money. When Trent Richardson signed with Alabama his mother suddenly got a job "house sitting" a 450,000 dollar home in Tuscaloosa. Go check the parking lot at an Alabama football practice. Looks like a damn Motor Trend best of 2020 car show despite most of those kids coming from families living well below the poverty level.

Doug Jones is a great man. Make no mistake about it, prosecuting the good old boys who killed those little black girls will never be seen as a positive in that state. I would love to see Biden make him AG or at least appointed federal prosecutor for that district.
