(3,436 posts)I'm a teacher, and a few years back I told my kids I wanted them to go into their parents' and grandparents' music collection, choose something sight unseen, listen to it, and let me know what they thought. I couldn't believe some of the reports I got. "It was so nice to listen to music about love and peace, instead of making money, doing drugs, and having sex", "I actually sat down and TALKED to my mom!" It was awesome. And believe it or not, (when we're on campus) you can't walk 10 feet without running into a kid who's wearing a Beatles or Stones t-shirt. Got a kid right now who considers Bowie a god.
The kids are fine...here's another walk down memory lane.

(3,436 posts)I think Joe went from a 5-6 point edge to something like 25. It was a thing of beauty.
"Seniors" is my demographic. We've been there, done that. We've lived through history, and know first hand this just ain't normal! I had to force myself to watch that entire "debate" debacle. We've seen a power mad president pulled down, and know it would only take a handful of Republicans to get it done now, but they're all fucking cowards.
Democrats pissed me off royally when they refused to show a spine and used to let Obama twist in the wind when the "tea party" idiots took over town halls. But seriously...I swear if you took all the vertebrae out of every Republican in office today, you couldn't construct one spinal column.

(17,546 posts)the SWING STATES!
Hillary WON the popular vote by 3 million, yet lost - because of the archaic Electoral College and what the SWING STATES did to dictate that loss.
We NEED several of the SWING STATES to be sure that it's gonna' be "BYE-DON!"
GET OUT THE VOTE!!!!!!!
GO, JOE!!!!!
Two other Polls were Joe +10. Actually more as the USC/Dornlife daily polls have all moved to Biden +10-12.
Composite is Joe +8.8, that could be moving another point higher in the next day or two as a lot of polls are due out.

(32,108 posts)A significant % of them really don't understand/care about the issues. They just want to vote for who they perceive as being the eventual winner. As we get closer to election day, these people break for the candidate in the lead.

(24,174 posts)Sit down in any bar in a blue collar area and politics is taboo or even explicitly forbidden as a subject of discussion. There's a good portion of society that doesn't pay attention at all until the debates. They've spent 4 years ignoring Trump completely. Sure, they'd probably heard some things, but were just brushing it off as political talk. Then they saw with their own eyes he's worse than everyone says.
Of course, there's also a third of the country who won't vote next Month.
WinstonSmith4740
(3,436 posts)How somebody can be "undecided" at this point, with this lunatic in charge, is totally beyond me. I also think they say they're undecided because those are the people that get face time on TV with reporters, and the ones everyone wants to hear from after debates.
Seeing how lopsided it is becoming Joe may now start to get the 'I'm going to go with the winner' vote.

(6,349 posts)So in theory, if this poll (and the NBC poll) are right, Trump is getting closer to that number.
The big problem right now is that Trump is on these high powered steroids that have made him crazier than normal. So no one can get to him and say, hey we need to pivot so that we lose with grace. If that's even possible with Trump. It may not be. Unless Ivanka could appeal to him.

(28,836 posts)Of course, it won't translate to a near-50-state win, but it will ensure that the swing states all go to Biden and perhaps a few unexpected ones.

(17,589 posts)It felt so good to choose straight Dem ticket! Wasn't much to think about on that one. I would no more vote for a Republican these days than I would try to do a cartwheel in my front yard for all the neighbors to see. Trust me - that would be an ugly sight.
Go Joe! And every last Dem on ballots.

Looks like a landslide. However, like others, so worried about gestapo Trump's efforts to win no matter what the vote says.

(24,174 posts)The Green and Libertarian candidates are going to get about 1 point each, but even that point won't be in the swing states as in closer states fewer will vote 3rd party.
What happens in the next 4 weeks could cement a landslide. Work harder than ever! Throw this monster out! Donate donate donate!!!
