but we are locked out now. yup. all alone. not even a stranger and a dog.
no hugs. no kisses. nuthin.
it is killing me.

(35,176 posts)This hit me hard in a different place. When I was working as a critical care nurse we were always busy but there was always time to sit and hold someone's hand as they died. The only way that did not happen is if it was a code blue situation or the family made it in. I have held so many hands and stroked so many heads or arms as people die. This is the part that I do think must be the worst, being alone. I can guarantee if there is a nurse free anywhere they do not die alone but still, it is in no way close to having a loved one there.
