I SO know how you feel. We moved up here in early 2018. Four fur babies - an older dog and three cats. Only one of those originals is still with us. Weve had to say goodbye to the other three, most recently when our cat Barney died in January. His litter mate, Betty, is still here but shes getting on in years.
And we STILL miss them! If I spent too much time focusing on that, Id start crying all over again. Feeling choked up already, as I write this.

(8,103 posts)When my BFFL kitty passed away several years ago, I had to go to work rather than to stay home and cry like I wanted.
So, I imagined my cat going to work with me, walking down the hallways with me, visiting places with me, and generally being with me. It helped enormously, until I no longer needed that extra support. I know he is waiting for me.
A baby living to that age has been really loved. And he had to have known he was.
Very sorry he gone.

(10,749 posts)And we know that they will leave before we do. Maybe there's a lesson in there, about cats and humans.
We've lost cats, dogs, and horses. It's never easy, and we always wonder how we're going to cope with another loss. But then another one turns up - a stray, a rescue, an offer from a friend - and embrace them.
Sorry for your loss.

(4,605 posts)Although 19 years is a good number of years for a pet, it's too short, they have such a special presence, in every day. They bring the joy, comfort, unflagging love, an uncanny dimension to our soul space. Always remember the precious gift of the love, he gave to you.

(24,725 posts)Jump up and run to whomever entered. At potty cleaning time, he had to curl up in a lap and look ecstatic to be there. He never fought with another cat...but he loved dogs and that came close to killing him once.It was a joke among my female workers that they'd never find a man as great as Jiffy...he'd ruined them for any other male! So I know what you mean by learning about love from Sugarbear... They can give so much love!

(27,436 posts)My girl, 14 years old has been sick for past 2 weeks. Took her to the vet, but she couldnt find anything wrong. She had been vomiting, lethargic and loose bowels. Vet gave her an antibiotic shot in case she picked up a virus, I dont know from where as shes an inside cat. Today was the first day all systems were pretty normal, so I hope shes good going forward.
But just the thought that she was sick and I didnt know why and she seemed to be getting weaker every day was breaking my heart. I couldnt imagine her not being here.
So while I still have my girl with me, I can only imagine how difficult it is for you to say good bye to your boy. He was a beautiful boy. You had a wonderful 19 years with him and he had a wonderful 19 years with you. This is what youll hold in your heart.💕
