Ok. I am just gobsmacked. After losing my spouse in April, just learn of the COVID19 deaths of a SIL in PA, a cousin in NJ within hours of each other.
My heart is just so broken. When will it end. It didn't have to be like this. Sorry, but my mind still races back to 2016. We could have beaten anything Russia threw at us is only those who sat it out had voted. What is happening now is UNREAL to me.

(14,307 posts)These dark days will give way to brighter ones soon. We can't bring back the loved ones we lost but we can make sure this never happens again. Russia needs to be curtailed and with a new administration (including Sec. of Education) we can engage young people to learn civics and to take seriously their part to have a functioning democracy and a government that cares for its people.

(1,406 posts)Like being in a group hug with a group of like-minded humans. I have been cleaning out the same closet for 5 months and it seems like no progress is being made but it keeps me busy between times picking up groceries and meds for elderly neighbors.
My nephew who is a mortician in PA says the bodies are beginning to back up. Crematories are scheduled up. Sigh....

(12,591 posts)Which is another reason why Trump's comments on Covid being 'nothing to worry about' is so irresponsible and callous. It's hard enough to cope with personal loss and grief without Trump proclaiming the pandemic a big nothingburger.
Yeah, tell that to the dead and the families left to grieve.
The 2016 election was ruinous for the country. The first step of the cure comes on November 3rd. For those who have suffered personal loss, the healing will no doubt be hard. Don't let these morons beat you down. We will get to the other side.
And if the gods are just? Trump and his henchmen will be held accountable.
Sending condolences to you and your family.

(633 posts)I am so very sorry...yes, one of the worst parts of all of this is knowing that it didn't have to be this way. It's absolutely shameful! Very sorry to hear

(11,282 posts)There are so many of us having to go through so much and the total lack of empathy from our 'leaders' is depressing. I wish there was a way to assuage the anguish and bring peace and comfort to the survivors AND the departed. I'm going through it now with my own mother's situation entering the final stages possibly. I am gutted by my own trials and then to know that there are MILLIONS more suffering the same or worse without an end in sight is almost.
Your loved ones deserved better and the only thing I can think to do right now is to try any and everything I can to get Biden-Harris elected and as much of a congress as possible. It won't bring anyone back or replace the stolen human moments we all have as holes in our hearts now, but it will be an end to this stage of the nightmare.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
