(10,915 posts)The point of my response is that 2020 sucks.
Along with Covid we also had some famous people that have died as well.
I pointed out 3 of the most recent.
This will definitely be a year to remember and I'm hoping November 3rd is the peak.

Too bad. Loved his wife as an actress (Valerie B.). Enjoyed listening to his music when I jogged (before Audiobooks got big).

(21,289 posts)They had to do radiation treatments and remove a third of his tongue. He was cancer free for a while, but it came back in his throat and neck and I'm sure that meant lymph node involvement. Once it gets in your lymph nodes, it's going to go everywhere. From Valerie Bertinelli's tweet, it sounds like it ended up in his lungs. Cancer is a motherfucker.

Not merely a great guitar player, but a trailblazer. Rock guitar changed forever because of him.
He was Jeff Beck on steroids! And I mean that in a good way.
I'm guessing his brother is devastated. They've been joined at the hip since they were little kids!

(290 posts)Eddie made a lot of missteps later on when it came to the band (getting rid of Michael Anthony was unforgivable) but his talent was undisputed. It was his name so I guess his band. I spent many a teenage nights air guitaring his solo to Hot For Teacher.

The thing that struck me so much about him was what a great time he always seemed to be having. Nothing broody or angsty, his whole demeanor was like, "I have the greatest job in the world, and it FUCKING RULES."
Too soon, Eddie. You'll be missed. I can still hear you shredding up there, heaven just got a lot LOUDER.

(2,753 posts)Around 4:00 yesterday, MTV Classic went to playing the same 7 VH videos over and over, and I wondered if something had happened to Ed. Damn, my fears were correct. They usually put a "rip" on the screen or show a black screen with dates in between commercials when they do this, but nothing like that yesterday. Couldn't find anything on the CNN ticker or E!
