(16,385 posts)but its looking more and more like a landslide. I predict Biden will be declared winner by midnight of Nov. 3rd.

(11,098 posts)I think we would have a good idea based on exit polls of the day and the mail ballot count right when polls close, if somebody becomes the clear winner in those states.

(6,876 posts)I dont know when their mail in ballots will be counted.
PA wont be called on Nov 3, I dont guess. My dream is FLA and PA called for Biden ASAP! Not much trump can do without one of those states.

(28,493 posts)I understand the mailed in ballots will not start being counted until 7am on Nov 3. Not even sure if they'll have opened the ones already arrived and have them ready for tabulation, however it will be done. I don't know what their situation is with sufficient polling stations for Election Day itself.

(6,876 posts)I know the month of November will likely be a Hell on earth dealing with all the right wing judges that trump will call on for their repayment of his favor.
I just have had a knot in my stomach for so long now, Im ready for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to be in office already.
Youre right of course. Trump will go to scotus over Pennsylvania over mail ins. I think I remember hearing that they dont even start opening the envelopes til the 3rd.

(28,493 posts)I doubt it will be at all close there. It's just that it will take horrendously long to count all those mailed in ballots. I suppose that the in-person voting on Election Day will either give Trump a slight lead, or close enough for him to pretend he's won, but what's the latest polling there? 54-42?

(28,493 posts)The various courts keep on saying the ballots need to be counted.
More to the point, Pennsylvania won't be the one state that matters in the end.

(28,493 posts)Biden is 12 points ahead.
The real problem is going to be that it will take a long time for that state to have final results, given that mailed in ballots won't be counted until election day. That is a state that will be days or weeks for a final tally.

(15,526 posts)... I'm hoping for enough of a national landslide that their election results won't be necessary on Nov. 3rd to declare the EC winner.
Declared victory here in Ohio, or even states like GA and IA would be helpful along those lines too.

(15,526 posts)I just wish this damn state was more blue. It will probably be close.
Registered Democrats have far out-numbered Republicans for absentee ballots in Ohio, so the early numbers on Nov. 3rd should look good.

(31,261 posts)a mail ballot. I had indicated in the primary that I would vote in person, apparently the person in his office who handled my primary ballot missed that, so I got a General election ballot , two days after the registrar mailed it. I had a choice, vote immediately and put the ballot into the mail, or wait until at least October 19 to vote early in person. I am healthy, but I thought what if I die before October 19. The ballot had reached me fast, so I decided to follow instructions, vote for Joe and other democrats and put it back in the mail. My ballot arrived back at the Registrars office and was counted about five days after I put it into the mail, that included a Sunday.
I advised everyone, DONT WAIT. If you are set up to vote by mail and the mail is moving fast for you like it did in my part of Florida, sit down, read the ballot instructions, fill it out properly, seal and sign it properly and make sure that it has return postage (Florida started paying the return postage this year, so I was set).. Take it to the nearest Post Office and deposit it in the internal outgoing mail bins inside the Post Office. You can go to your County Registrars site to track the ballot and its status.
For people who wait more than 7 days for a ballot, go to your County Registrars site and see whether you can walk into an in person voting site, surrender the mail ballot and get an active in person ballot, Florida allows that, check your state. The last thing that you want to do if your ballot took two weeks to arrive is put your return ballot into the mail anytime later than this Friday, it likely will not get back to the Registrar before Election Day is over.

(31,261 posts)I got my mail ballot on September 26. I could read the instructions, follow them, vote and get the ballot back in the mail, or I could wait until the earliest in person voting day, 23 days after the mail ballot arrived at my home. I chose not to wait, that decision was made easier by how fast the ballot reached my home after being sent. My return ballot got back to the Registrar almost as fast. So I sit now with the comfortable feeling that my paper ballot has been counted and stored and my vote will be part of the Election Day count for Joe.
I went against my initial intentions. Right now, I am glad that I did. I advise people not to wait, I repeat that. Read the instructions and process the ballot immediately after it reaches their mailbox and get it back in the mail, there is no rational reason at all for a person not to do that.

(14,565 posts)They are never that far apart in presidential years.
But lots of moving parts in Florida this year. I think the GOP put huge energy and emphasis into Florida beginning early 2017, sensing the opportunity to expand here since the Florida Democratic operation is so weak. I remember GOP canvassers all over my block in spring 2017 week after week. That was bizarre, given the calendar.
That push led to the 2018 upsets in Florida. It led to tighter numbers in voter registration. It was also designed to give Trump more of a cushion here. But they never anticipated that the Democratic nominee would be so strong among seniors.
