26 years ago was when I was first suspected of having MS.
I had 3 symptoms, and a test was Solumedrol infusion. That is an IV of a prednisone metabolite, about 25% stronger per mg, than prednisone itself.
For 6 days, I got a 90 minute infusion of 1,200mg. (Roughly 75 times the dosage of the most coomon pill version of prednisone.)
By the third day, I was no longer sleeping more than an hour at a time. Maybe 4 per day.
I played a lot of guitar, so my jitters were at least productive.
By day 5, I swear I could feel my hair growing. I stubbed my toe, and I felt the pain to my hip!
While I wasn't already prone to antisocial behavior, the littlest things agitated me. I didn't act on anything, just was aware that it bugged me, when it didn't before.
Now, we have this fool in the same condition, but he is a sociopath, a narcissist, and he has power . Yikes!
I'm convinced he's having a steroid mania, because it happened to me. Except I'm not a dick to everyone.. He is.

(3,140 posts)In 2003 I had a prednisone steroid series for lupus/fibromyalgia combo. I began having an auditory hallucination on the third day ( I heard an electrical impulse that occasionally changed into music at the same tempo repeating every 18 seconds ) Why am I so specific about the details? Because it continues till this day 24/7 - I made peace with it but it nearly drove me over the edge for a couple of years. My concentration level is probably 30% of my pre steroid treatment. Everything I hear competes with the noise already in my head.

(76,700 posts)At least my effects were temporary. Even while weaning with prednisone for a few weeks, I felt much closer to normal a few days after infusions stopped.
Overall I was back to normal completely, by 6 weeks.
You've had a much more lasting impact than I.

(44,558 posts)While on the drugs he flew into a rage because his mother told him to put away his socks.
He punched the wall and caught the side of the door jamb.
He pulverized the metacarpus bone of his little finger.
He was in so much pain that he passed out.
Taken to the hospital where they put a metal plate and screws which he has to this day, two decades later.
Every Winter he suffers pain from the cold on that metal plate.

(321 posts)Through that. If I was told by a Doctor that I'm
in trouble with the virus and the Doctor wants to give
me Steroids, I would say whay are you giving me
steroids for it has nothing to do with a fucking virus.
It's for muscle loss. So what I'm saying is that POS
is getting Prednisone for something other than the
Virus, he has . For me I don't believe he has the
virus, nothing but acting and bad at that too. I would
tell him to prove he has it. He's a liar and he has his
boot licker's to lie as well including the Doctor's tht
treated him. Lets do it Nov 3rd, vote the bastard out!

(1,672 posts)he had terrible constipation and then a huge blow out with bloody diarrhea. His incompetent pediatrician didn't take his symptoms seriously until we begged him to refer us to a specialist our oldest had seen years before for GERD. My baby was tested for intussusception, Meckel's diverticulum (neg via horrible Meckel's scan), possible stomach tumor (neg via ultrasound) and then was anesthetized for endoscopy and colonoscopy. The specialist diagnosed acute ulcerative colitis. The whole left side of his colon was inflamed, ulcerated and oozing blood. We were told it must have been a virulent virus that overtook his colon because the Pediapred had suppressed his immune system.
All this happened Thanksgiving week. We spent Thanksgiving Day in the hospital with him. His incompetent pediatrician couldn't be bothered to ask about him. We fired him immediately after.
Steroids are vital for many conditions, but the side effects can be nasty!
