(29,213 posts)was done by NASA... how do I know this? Because some of my team at NASA did it for President Clinton back in the day... and I understand that the same team has been improving things there ever since.
Again, this is for stuff not classified.
and, yes, in general the Federal Computing systems from most agencies are woefully out of date... however not NASA (or the DOE either).

That is the saying we used at the aeronautics side of the agency. LOL

(29,213 posts)first off, not a lot of business that happens in the White House would be considered Top Secret or even Secret. Most is just "Sensitive"
The situation room probably has it's own security arrangements... and probably the Oval Office.
As for the rest of the staff... they would use a MilSpec VPN from their homes to access the White House servers for email, etc.
With the advent of Quantum computing or even just very powerful classic computers, the VPNs can probably be compromised... however, again, not super secret stuff to be found.
