(35,355 posts)COVID recession the drilling and fracking have nearly stopped. There are only 6 active drilling rigs in the state now.

(20,205 posts)I believe the break even point is about $50 a barrel. Right now, oil is about $40 a barrel, so Pence and Trump can crow about all the jobs fracking creates, but there will be few fracking jobs until oil gets to at least $60 a barrel. That's unlikely, because demand is down because of COVID-19. It will likely stay down as companies figure out that yes, people really can do many jobs from home.
