Mike Lee has joined the fascist club because a democratic Republic is just too hard to control, particularly when you're in the minority but pretend you aren't.

This is the current state of their party. They favor strongmen who focus all of their energy on aesthetics and fake social hierarchies vs. honoring norms and maximizing freedom and economic mobility.

They are not small government Republicans. They are Fascists. Check out Umberto Eco’s “Ur Fascism.”

“There is in our future a TV or Internet populism, in which the emotional response of a selected group of citizens can be presented and accepted as the Voice of the People.”

...where whatever the mob wants, the mob gets. That's why we have a constitutional democracy, that puts some rights and liberties beyond the reach of simple majority rule.

However, what he's defending is minority rule by Republicans, no matter what, simply because he wants to claim Republicans are the only ones capable of maintaining liberty, peace... and whatever that other thing is.

Disgusting.

in a democracy.
It's tough to have peace when self proclaimed superiors try to perpetuate themselves in power.
How can liberty exist without equality? Equal rights means equal votes that are counted.
