He assumes that everyone in the military, other than the officers, are poor and uneducated and joined because they had no other prospects. People who were drafted to go to Vietnam are the biggest suckers in his mind because they couldn't even get a doctor to fake a medical condition for them.

If he were in a room full of CEOs, he wouldn't think twice about their health status. But a room full of families who lost someone in battle is a completely different story to him.
