People in Wales have responded to a tweet written by Fox News presenter Laura Ingraham and retweeted by Donald Trump that the future of the US under Joe Biden would make the country similar to Wales.
In a deluge of tweets that are in turn compassionate, thoughtful and witty, it's safe to say the good people of Wales have mounted a strong defense of what it means to live here.
The President of the United States used his Twitter account to retweet something written by Fox News presenter Laura Ingraham, who wrote "Your future under Biden" alongside a link to a story headlined: "Rolling lockdowns will become the norm in Wales".
The article referenced the comments of Wales's chief medical officer, Frank Atherton, who said people here could be going in and out of such restrictions over the next few months.
Trump's retweet led to hundreds of people in Wales responding to the derogatory reference. Shelby Bryn tweeted: "Being Welsh means putting the health and well-being of family and community first, making sacrifices for each other in the short-term to ensure a stronger and safer long-term together.
"Strength and compassion combined. Trump wouldn't last five minutes here. Cymru am byth." (Wales Forever)

Good job.

(37,616 posts)I was also pleased to read about the unified response of the Welsh.
It was the stupidity and ignorance which caused the response contained in the post which caused my paralysis.
So, no bad on your part had occurred!

Out of curiosity, when I watched the first season of Hinterland, I looked around for the Welsh version (one that I could turn on English subtitles for). Don't know why Netflix only offered the English version.

Which means, "I'm a dragon. Who are you?"

I think the only reason he was ever tolerated in Scotland is because his mom came from there. No doubt they now wish they could erase him and everything with his name attached.

(6,880 posts)I spent most of my time back and forth along the south coast, Gower, Rhossili, also spent time in Brecon Beacons, and Aberrystwyth up north. Spent a year there for a Study abroad program and have been dreaming of going back for years. No Welsh blood in me, but i've got a serious affinity. Thanks for bringing up Wales... always fond memories.
