A Rant For Today: I Just Learned That If You Have ComEd Service And DirectTV In Your Home......

you pay monthly for the service - but if you actually need service to fix or repair either of these - that they charge you for it. They are not responsible for the servicing the equipment that they place in your home.

You incur additional charges for service.

Is that how it is with everything these days? Aren't companies responsible for the servicing of their own equipment?

which is also my cable, internet, and landline provider. I rarely have outages, and they are right on it. All communities should be served as well.

it still belongs to them, and you have to return it when you’re finished with it. They can do it because apparently TV is the most important part of life for many, many folks. Your options are clear.

But I cancelled long ago...to pricey. They started charging for local channels. That was it for me. I use Hulu live at the moment...but have used sling as well...I loved love Playstation Vue...but Sony got rid of it.

unless things have changed, which is certainly possible...the one time I had an issue with one of my DirecTV receivers, I called up and they mailed me next day two spanking new receivers, no cost.

And every time I have moved, they have given me the latest receivers.

Of course, I haven't had any lines repaired or a damaged dish, is that what you mean?

I don't suffer any cable, satellite, or broadcast television.

I pay $8.99 a month for Netflix, and about the same for phone service.

That's my version of freedom.

It seems most of the U.S.A. isn't so free.

down in the fires in Oregon for 'their' equipment that the residents didn't risk their lives to save? We have WAVE here and have to pay monthly 'rental fees' on equipment that they will also charge us to fix. This is what unregulated capitalism does when the company is the only game in town. That's also why internet access should also be a utility.

Delivers electric to your home. Once it leaves the Com Ed line and ties to your service drop, you are responsible for that. It's 2 separate
trades that take care of each part. Electricians deal with the lines from meter box to panel, and the lines from service head to meter box. Linemen deal with the lines from service pole to service drop, and the meter itself.

YouTubeTV. We get all the channels we watch for half the price, and no big stupid equipment that needs repairs. Quitting DirectTV was a pain the ass, but totally worth it. I finally told them I was moving out of the country.

Just call them tell them if they dont drop the charges you're switching to dish network... they are authorized to negotiate a lot of charges with you to keep you as a customer.

Ma Bell broke up. The line that goes in your house is your responsibility as is your personal phone, back when landlines were the norm.
