(7,525 posts)Trump would almost certainly object, sending the issue to Congress. Pence would need support not only from eight cabinet members, but he would need Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell to play ball as well because Pence would lose power as soon as either the House or Senate votes and fails to reach the 2/3 majority needed. If Pelosi and McConnell both agree with Pence's actions, they could keep him in power for 21 days by simply not scheduling a vote. They both need 2/3 of their chamber to approve to keep him in power longer than that though.
