Officially hunkered down. Hurricane # 2 on its way.

Hurricane Delta will be here tomorrow by late afternoon (time to landfall expected to change).

People in some areas still without power from Hurricane Laura. Others were starting to return to Lake Charles to begin the rebuilding process. Now they're being evacuated once again.

I'm prepared as can be for now. Got supplies in case we lose electricity again. Got the animals ready for a quick safety lock-down. Various other hurricane must-haves.

I would scream in frustration if I thought it would help.

On the plus side, I could use some extra paper towels.

They can keep the flies.

Just venting.

Thanks for listening.

Thu Oct 8, 2020, 06:13 PM
Oct 2020

The really bad news is that it is back to 115mph; it is moving at 12mph which means it has slowed down and there is a lot of rain in this system.

The good news - it will be an afternoon/evening hurricane rather than a night one.

Please stay safe - you really don't need this.
I heard today that there have been 10 storms that hit the US coast this year - the most in recorded history.

And it seems that Delta is taking a path similar to Laura, and unfortunately, it will be a bit harder to nail down because the NWS Lake Charles Doppler Radar was completely obliterated by Laura.

Mainly the generator. We got extra solar lights - leave them out during the day and bring them in at night. In the event of loss of electricity. Saves on generator use. Use those instead of overheads or lamps. Got extra batteries. Already stocked on water.

must be so hard for them. poor babies.

i developed a taste for cold coffee. was used to just warm when i was married, as it was timed for when the ex got up. even w a thermos carafe and a warmer, it was lukewarm. then some half and half, and... but now it is just me and i tend to make a whole pot anyway. so just got in the habit of cold. half whole milk and half coffee.

but in a pinch you can make cold brewed. some vodka, or whatever you have over grounds and a few hours wait and voila.
a little jameson, some cream, and you have irish coffee.

stay safe. good luck.

I feel for those who lost everything in Laura. They don't have anything left to destroy but it will be that much longer before they can go home. People were just now starting to go back home to rebuild. I can't imagine how painful that must be.

I'm hoping for the best for all.

I almost cried earlier today. We have a lot going on right now and then this.

Oh, well. Life. Messy and beautiful.

There is a chance, saw this AM, that it will be slightly to the east of us. So maybe not as bad as last time. Maybe.

And hang in there. This has been such a hard year. But things always change, and this constant stream of disasters can't last forever.

136. We're 4 1/2 to 6 hours out from landfall. They still haven't locked that down yet.

It's raining and has been since yesterday morning. Cooler than last time with Laura but warmer than it has been lately. If that makes sense.

Mainly it's just yucky outside.

I'm drinking coffee and waiting. Weather should start to change around 2, maybe 3 PM CDT. Wind will pick up.

We'll see.

This too will pass and somehow we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and start all over again

138. Good news is Delta will hit as a 2/low 3 and not a high 4, like Laura.

She should be even weaker when she reaches me. With any luck.

70 mph winds v. 105 mph winds would be the difference.

Bad news. Lot of readily available "missiles" all over. Debris everywhere from Laura still. Don't need 100 mph winds to move those.

Thanks for the music!
