He's a germaphobe and a misanthrope. The only human touch he gets are those he initiates.

No real germaphobe would have unprotected sex with strangers. It's just an excuse to cover up the misanthropy. It is easier get away with saying you are afraid of germs than it is to say that you don't want to have any contact with people you consider to be lowly scum. So yeah, I agree that it's rubbish. Besides, it sounded to me like he was, at some points, insinuating that they were wanting to hug and kiss Hope Hicks, who he is apparently blaming for getting him sick. What a shitshow.

since he doesn't want them wearing masks or anything else to protect from the virus which could also help in dealing with germs in general .
