Cofounder Of Conservative Federalist Society Calls For President Trump To Be Impeached

Steven Calabresi, cofounder of the conservative Federalist Society, called for a second impeachment inquiry into President Trump in a New York Times opinion piece on Thursday after a tweet earlier in the day from Trump where he falsely characterized mail-in voting and proposed the delay of the 2020 presidential election in November, which the executive branch cannot enact.

Article II states that The President “ shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.”

Not crimes not part of the impeachment.

Trump is a criminal on so many fronts. He needs to go to jail. Of course, the likelihood of that seems infinitesimal, impeachment or not, win or lose the election.

I will be thrilled to be proven wrong about that.

That would allow impeachment but no prosecution for crimes impeach for. That doesn’t give equal protection under the law, and Its hard to imagine that the founding father’s had that in mind when they wrote that exception.

But what you're saying seems to agree with what I'm saying.

Then again, my brain has been broken by trying to make sense of reality these days.

What I think will happen is DJT will be roundly defeated in the election, and he'll go apeshit. When that happens, the Senate will have nothing to lose, and they'll support removal under the 25th Amendment. I think McConnell, Graham, Collins and maybe McSally will lose (at least I hope most of them do), and they'll have nothing to lose by turning on Trump, whom they'll blame for their electoral losses. Vengeance will be sweet....of course, I could be wrong.

Are they the coaches in a football game? If so, was he their quarterback in their quest for a much sought out goal? If that's the case, here's my metaphor: It's like giving the order to sack your own quarterback after he's already thrown the winning Hail Mary.

eight months before this article, he was defending Trump against his impeachment for extorting foreign election aid from Ukraine, and calling the Mueller investigation "illegal".

So after careful deliberation, I'm still going to have to say that Steve can go fuck himself with an immersion blender.
