(24,435 posts)They have a good sample and then adjust for known demographics. Is it an outlier? Probably a bit, but +17 is probably closer to the truth than +5 right now.
538 includes it in their average even thought they don't rate it. Average is now Biden +10.6.

(24,435 posts)AS long as they are live and bot proof they are valid. This isn't like some Twitter poll where anyone can click a button, change their IP address and then click it again.
These are online interviews conducted in real time, then adjusted for demographics like every other poll.

(15,376 posts)It's a horrible mistake to take an outlier poll like this (or any poll, for that matter) seriously. It only fosters complacency.

(24,435 posts)Understanding reality is not a bad thing, ever. Biden is way ahead, people knowing this will not depress voter turnout for Dems, but it may for Reps.
The USC Dorn life polls were the only polls that had Trump winning in 2016, right now they have Biden by 13 or 14. So 17 is not that far of.
2020 is not 2016.

(23,195 posts)If polls show Biden winning in a landslide it makes it much more dangerous and unlikely to work out the way Trump wants if he attempts to steal the election anyway.

(24,435 posts)Polls are valuable. People are just shell shocked from 2016 still, this is a blowout right now and the clock is running out. Also, 11 million people have already voted!

(62,536 posts)The Electoral College is rigged in favor of Republicans. It gives them a 3+ point advantage. Depress the vote and make anyone think it is a foregone conclusion, and you have a Trump presidency. Everyone, must, fucking, vote.
