(Detroit Free Press) HOLLAND A national nonprofit is launching an anti-Trump billboard campaign targeting Christian voters in the Holland and Grand Rapids area.
The campaign, called "His Words Matter," is an effort by the liberal evangelical group Vote Common Good to persuade Christian voters that the things President Donald Trump has said on the campaign trail and in office "stand in opposition to the words of Jesus Christ."
The billboards juxtapose quotes from the president with the words of Jesus.
One billboard, for example, shows an image of Jesus with the phrase "Turn the other cheek," drawn from Jesus's words in Matthew 5:39, next to an image of Trump and the words "I'd like to punch him in the face," a comment Trump made about a protester who was removed from one of his 2016 campaign rallies. ..............(more)

(56,848 posts)we're not looking for EVERY evangelical voter to leave Trump. However, if 1 in 20 evangelical voters from 2016 doesn't vote Trump, that's a HUGE swing. Even 1 in 100 is a big deal.

(27,834 posts)All of the daughters, save for the youngest, are just as staunch Catholics as their parents. Yet, my cousin, her husband, and at least 2 of the daughters are voting for Biden. And they are working on the one who is afraid voting for Biden will piss off Jesus.
And another cousin (her sister), who has always been very Catholic and very conservative is voting for Biden.
They have a bother who is also a staunch Catholic AND disgustingly conservative. I see no hope for him.

(27,834 posts)One of my cousins moved to Grand Rapids to be closer to her kids. Pretty much the entire family (save for one of her daughters) are hard core, staunch Roman Catholics. BUT from the posts on FB, they are all (save for another daughter who seems to believe voting for Biden will piss off Jesus) voting for Biden. They are trying to sway her. She's married to a real cultural Neanderthal who would feel comfortable being a part of the Spanish Inquisition but I remain hopeful she will see past his ignorance, and vote for Joe.

(1,257 posts)and nobody talks to him! Republican canvassers don't even bother anymore! In Kent County, Hillary Clinton received 45% of the vote in 2016 and Trump was a point or two below 50%.
