there is still no substitute for professional journalism,
even with its flaws.
Broad brush complaints about "MSM" are in part what
has lead us to Qanon and climate denial.

Their customers are the advertisers who pay for viewers.

Many viewers erroneously seem to think they are the customers.

Only by not viewing and depriving the media companies of their product (viewers) will the media companies change.

If it pisses you off vote, with your views.

It's all about the almighty dollar. I will not let their bullshit cause me massive stress and negative thoughts and feelings. The just plain real news causes enough on it's own.

and if there is some serious breaking news kind of stuff, that has no room for rhetoric, I'll tune in. I think Pat Buchanan showed me the error of my ways, long before I pulled the plug. It used to be fine to leave on in the background, as ambient noise, but the noise got to be ear piercingly abusive. No mas.

I must admit, I get a little lazy from time to time.

I listen to Democracy Now, and I really like the Brad Blog. Rising up with Sonali is good.

I quit television news and opinion shortly after 9/11/2001.

My wife and I quit traditional television entirely more than a decade ago.

No cable, no satellite, no broadcast.

We have an $8.99 a month Netflix subscription and a DVD player. That's plenty enough television for us. And we never see commercials.

What money we don't spend on cable television we probably spend on internet subscriptions to written journalism like the New York Times and Washington Post.

Our local paper is the only paper we receive as actual newsprint delivered to our driveway. It used to be every day but it's only three days a week now.

Back in the 'nineties, at our peak newspaper consumption, we had three papers delivered to our driveway. We always picked up the community Weekly as well.

That was a lot of paper.

because it's no longer "news" and now "op-ed entertainment" whose sole purpose is to keep the masses in an incessant state of rage.

An absolute waste of time.
