I didn't know. I respected her chops! Guthrie is an attorney.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Savannah_Guthrie

“After working several years as a broadcast journalist, Guthrie chose to resume her higher education, receiving a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2002. She is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia and Arizona, having scored first place on the Arizona Bar Exam. She also was a member of Order of the Coif and received the International Academy of Trial Lawyers' Student Advocacy award for her work with victims of domestic violence.
She worked for the law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, where she served as a litigation associate, specializing in white-collar criminal defense. In 2004, she became a national trial correspondent for CourtTV. She covered high-profile legal proceedings including the Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearings of U.S. Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, the abduction and murder trial of Carlie Brucia, the Martha Stewart case, and the Michael Jackson trial.“

or Brown, or such, or have clerked for the senate, or worked with US Attorneys offices, etc. The entire crew are well-qualified and smart smart smart. I learn something from every one of them, every time I watch.

On the Today Show, the hard-hitting news and political stuff was given to Matt Lauer. Savanah was given human interest and women's issues. I'm certain that her questions were pre-screened to make sure viewers wouldn't know she was more intelligent and more incisive than Lauer.

For all we know, Savanah went rogue on NBC as well as Trump last night. I don't remember her being so journalistic and assertive.

"For all we know, NBC was supporting Biden and suckered Trump into a hard-hitting interview"

They're both silly conspiracy theories.

She eviscerated him ... He never saw it coming. She is a magnificent creature, and he totally underestimated her. Young, cute and rather innocent looking, but an excellent lawyer. She did her homework, and it showed. Never underestimate the power of a woman!
