(haven't seen this posted on DU yet. If so, sorry......)
October 16, 2020 Continuing their commitment and focus to getting out the vote in Hispanic communities, The Lincoln Project is excited to announce an upcoming collaboration with Hispanic civil rights organization LULAC, on a non-partisan Get Out The Vote concert series beginning October 17th in Houston, TX.
LULAC, the nations largest and oldest Hispanic civil rights organization, has led the charge in advancing technology, economic and educational advancement, and political influence for Hispanic communities for decades. The Lincoln Project is proud to work with such a well-established and trusted grassroots organization to ensure Hispanic voter turnout reaches historic levels this November 3rd
Hispanic voters will sway this election, without a doubt, said Mike Madrid, co-founder of The Lincoln Project. Were now well into the Get Out The Vote phase of the election. Early voting has started in several states, and we need all hands on deck to ensure ballots are cast, voters are counted, and Hispanic voices are heard. We couldnt have better partners to help get the job done.
The first concert will be held at Escapade 2000 in Houston, TX on Saturday, October 17th. It will be a safely social-distanced event for 3,500 people and will feature popular Tejano and Regional Mexicano artists.
We are thrilled to be partnering with The Lincoln Project to encourage voter turnout, said Domingo Garcia, National President of LULAC. The Latino community is growing in power when it comes to elections, and its time to make sure that as the largest ethnic voting bloc, we exercise our civic duty and responsibility at the ballot box. Releasing an unprecedented wave of Latino voters is the best way for our community to ensure we elect candidates who share our values and bring unity and not hate or division.
Jacob Monty, Managing Partner of Monty & Ramirez LLP said, Ive been working in Republican politics for over 20 years, and this is the first time LULAC has joined with a Republican group for Get Out the Vote efforts. Were excited about this, having the venerated Latino civil rights group (LULAC) behind this event will ensure its success.
With fewer than 20 days until the election, every moment matters. Its only through extraordinary collaboration and coming together that our country can begin to heal by removing Donald Trump from the White House.
