Attended a Women's March rally in Ocala, FL today

Sponsored by our Democratic Women's Club region of 4 chapters - including my own chapter. Nowhere near where IMPOTUS had his super spreader event yesterday, thank goodness.

We had about 200 in attendance in Ocala Town Square. Great energy, wonderful speakers, lots of young women in attendance. The Trumpers mustered a lame little flag waving on a corner event - maybe 6 people (they must have been tired from their tribute to Dear Leader yesterday). But, they did have a bunch of yahoos gunning their engines around the square to try to drown out our speakers. It didn't work.

At the end, we lined up on the street right next to the Trumpers and waved our signs. We got lots of positive horn toots - more than I expected in Ocala.

Tomorrow, a Biden rally in my home of Citrus County.

Since we have had a heat wave all week, I am surprised that many showed up (not many pink hats today though...too hot). I think there was representation from all age groups. I have noticed more young women coming out each year. It's good to see more of them involved, finally. Not much advertising about it but it wasn't announced until about a week ago. More people would have come if it was more well known. None of the local papers even mentioned it until after it was over.

The goal was to have people call the Senate and not confirm the new Handmaid Justice/Stepford Wife.

Some of our speakers were young women - one who organized a BLM rally in our town after George Floyd's murder. She talked about how she was raised to be a "lady" and told not to wear certain clothes because it would distract the boys. She came to realize that everything was about "the boys" and not about girls and women. It was a strong testament to what girls still have to deal with.

But, we've got a very active Democratic Women's Club, Democratic Club and Dem party. We've also got an Equality Caucus that held a Pride Event June 2019 that had 500 people! It was a blast.

We are way outnumbered but we're driving the local Rs crazy. We've even put up billboards this year.

Gave me so much hope to see the young women and men there.

Thanks.
