This 14-year-old girl won a $25K prize for a discovery that could lead to a cure for Covid-19

https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/10/18/us/anika-chebrolu-covid-treatment-award-scn-trnd/index.html

CNN)As scientists around the world race to find a treatment for the coronavirus, a young girl among them stands out.

Anika Chebrolu, a 14-year-old from Frisco, Texas, has just won the 2020 3M Young Scientist Challenge -- and a $25,000 prize -- for a discovery that could provide a potential therapy to Covid-19.

Anika's winning invention uses in-silico methodology to discover a lead molecule that can selectively bind to the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

"The last two days, I saw that there is a lot of media hype about my project since it involves the SARS-CoV-2 virus and it reflects our collective hopes to end this pandemic as I, like everyone else, wish that we go back to our normal lives soon," Anika told CNN.

Gdm Beartracks,

You my friend made my morning even brighter with how Repubs will pronounce her name . I just wake up in Seminole County, FL to go cast my first vote . I became a US Citizen after 30 years from Haiti as a teenager. This morning voting is a family affair , because my husband, my daughter who turn 18 in August will cast our votes in person against Orange Cheeto , (we never say his name). For years I drove people in my communities to Polling Station , but Today it will be my turn , and tomorrow ill be back helping driving as many to the polls ..We need to Vote and Vote big against Orange Cheeto.

Anika said she was inspired to find potential cures to viruses after learning about the 1918 flu pandemic and finding out how many people die every year in the United States despite annual vaccinations and anti-influenza drugs on the market.

"Anika has an inquisitive mind and used her curiosity to ask questions about a vaccine for Covid-19," Dr. Cindy Moss, a judge for the 3M Young Scientist Challenge, told CNN.

"Her work was comprehensive and examined numerous databases. She also developed an understanding of the innovation process and is a masterful communicator. Her willingness to use her time and talent to help make the world a better place gives us all hope."

I realize that you’ve chosen to be relentlessly negative anytime someone posts something even faintly positive on the subject of this virus so this is very on brand, but do you ever tire of it? I know others here have.

Go for it.
By the way once you make you research known, that affects your ability to patent (which is how one would make money off it, if it actually worked).

who scores 90 or below. And qualify anyone who scores 120+. Regardless of their age.

I'm sure we would cleanout some, let's just say some not so bright, current members.

Wisconsin and Texas have at least two prominent candidates.

Enough with putting mentally challenged idiots in charge of running our government.

Congratulation young lady. Our country needs bright leaders.
