Brian Wilson Wants 'Absolutely Nothing To Do' With Trump's Beach Boys Stunt

Beach Boys co-founders Brian Wilson and Al Jardine want fans to know they’re not part of a fundraising effort for President Donald Trump featuring the current incarnation of the band.

“We have absolutely nothing to do with the Trump benefit today in Newport Beach. Zero,” a spokesperson for the duo told Variety. “We didn’t even know about it and were very surprised to read about it in the Los Angeles Times.”

The Beach Boys performed Sunday at a Trump fundraiser in Newport Beach, California, with tickets costing up to $150,000 per couple, the Times reported.

However, that’s the current touring version of the group led by Mike Love ― the band’s other surviving co-founder, who is often at loggerheads with his old bandmates and is a Trump supporter.

Earlier this year, Wilson and Jardine slammed Love’s version of the band for performing at a trophy-hunting convention, and said they supported a petition opposed to the activity.

If Mike Love and not Brian Wilson was the creative influence behind the Beach Boys, they would have never had a hit beyond Fun, Fun, Fun. Pet Sounds and Smile would have never been made either.

I was working a high school summer job for Manpower. He gave me and my co-worker five bucks
each as a tip. I was making $1.25 an hour at the time. Nice guy.

He has been jealous of and capitalized on Brian Wilson's genius his whole life. Every one of The Beach Boys songs he supposedly helped contribute to writing were mainly written by Wilson, with Love adding maybe a word here or there. Mike love has always been a giant prick of a person, so no surprise he's aligned with Trump for the money they were paid for this event. Sad that Brian and Al Jardine are having to deal with this nonsense.

... one concert for 2200 guests in a rural area. They cannot fill any big place anymore here - and this got Covid-19 cancelled anyway.
