The polls were scheduled to open at 8:30am. I was in line at 8:05am and there were about 50 people ahead of me. As I waited in line there were about 50 people lined up behind me as well. The doors of the facility opened exactly at 8:30am. I made it into the facility at 9:03am and was signed up, voted and out of the facility at 9:21am.
While I was waiting in line a large number of people came to the facility to drop off their mail-in ballots.
When I left the facility the line was at least as long as it was when I arrived and people still coming. This facility will be open until 7pm tonight.
This was the first time I voted in Illinois that I had any kind of line or wait. I've always walked right in; signed up and voted.
I see this as a good sign that people are fired up and ready to vote and I'm going to predict that Illinois will have a record turn-out by the time voting is ended on the evening of Nov. 3rd.
I'm glad I decided to vote in-person and early vote.
Saturday I got my Senior Booster Flu shot and today I voted. I feel real exhilarated now.

(1,072 posts)I Voted early in Madison County Illinois. Went to the court house like the 3rd day of early voting. Got right in voted and went to lunch. By, the time I left longer lines! They had distance markers on the floor and they went all the way out the door!

(44,974 posts)Those who can should vote early, either by mail or in person. I voted by mail.

(18,402 posts)but with the uptick in cases, the long lines, etc. we decided to submit our mail-in ballots instead. Dropped off last week to external box at Board of Election around 11 am; by 6 pm I got email that my ballot had been "accepted and will be counted."
I'm having a bit of regret at not voting in person (first time in my long life), especially because filling in those 79 judicial race circles by hand took forever! Much faster on the new electronic machines.

(6,477 posts)About the same experience, but I got there around 10am, so it had been open for a little while. Line remained the same length the whole time I was in line and as I was leaving - abut 80 people in line at any one time
My ward went about 85% to Clinton in 2016.

(9,273 posts)In PA. Not a real long line but lots of cars in the lot, quite a few Biden bumper stickers! Mostly older people (free on a weekday morning). Hope this enthusiasm is a good sign - I think it is.

(14,825 posts)All I had to do was drive up to my town hall and drop my ballot in a drive up drop box. No lines. Didn't even get out of my car.....
My wife and I both voted the day after we got our ballots. All that's lft to do is drain the bank account supporting candidates and if I have time, gotv efforts.
