I see a lot of people posting that they have voted. I was wondering if anyone besides me has not voted. Are you waiting to vote in person on Election Day? Are you waiting for your ballot? Do you live in a state like New York where you can't vote yet?
Personally, I'm working as a poll worker so I will vote there on Election Day. My polling place is not usually very crowded. I have never needed to stand in line for longer than a few minutes.
According to the latest figures, 34,033,663 people have already voted. That is 4 million more people than when I checked yesterday. That is 24.5% of the total votes cast in 2016.

(2,449 posts)I live in CT...we don't have early voting. I live in a very small town...it's never taken us more than 10 minutes to vote so we'll get up early and vote in person.

(15,526 posts)She can't track the ballot, though, which surprised me for a more progressive state like CT.
mindfulNJ
(2,449 posts)that you couldn't track ballots here. Definitely reinforces my decision to vote in person.

(38,639 posts)The postcard writing operation I am part of tested mail delivery. I'm to mail the postcards on 10/26 - which, according to the testing they did after the mail started to slow down, is still early enough to reach its destination several states away.
But that wasn't the issue I was addressing - I was addressing whether residents of CT can track theri ballot. They can (despite assertions to the contrary)

(3,762 posts)We vote exclusively by mail here in WA. My ballot was mailed out on October 14, and was supposed to arrive yesterday, but it didn't. I am getting a little concerned. If it doesn't arrive today, I am going to have to go pick up a replacement ballot in-person. (I could have the replacement ballot mailed to me, but I don't want to wait another week or longer wondering if it will get here.)

(1,885 posts)Had requested absentee ballot in Florida
When dump saud it was fine to vote absentee here, i realized that they might have a fix in somehow.
The florida voting website says the absentee votes will not be counted until AFTER the polls close. That kind of scares me.
I know i could have brought the ballot to the voting site but any level of complexity that might get me disqualified concerned me.

(47,423 posts)They start processing ballots before the election. They can't release the results before the election is over.

(1,885 posts)That is good to hear. The website says it won't show as counted and I was concerned.

(4,654 posts)You should be able to go to your county election site and check the status of your ballot. I checked ours this morning and it shows that our ballots have been counted. Now were in a hurry up and wait mode until Nov. 3 to see if FL pulls Biden/Harris over the line.

I will be heading to the alternative polling location on the first day of early voting in New York. My normal polling place isn't very crowded nor have I ever had to stand in long lines to vote. I've been anxious to vote since January 20, 2017.

I voted all Democratic, wrote in 'Democratic Socialist' where a Republican ran unopposed regardless of how local the race was, and researched all Judges and marked 'No' to all that were Republican or appointed by Republican Governors.*

(34,189 posts)I plan to go back earlier in the day tomorrow with my husband. Waiting in line is boring enough, doing it by myself is worse. If the two places we normally do early voting are both slammed with big numbers of people, we might just take a drive across the county to the most rural voting location. Usually the voting totals at that location are a few hundred when the other locations are thousands.

I really would love to vote on Election Day as I always have esp for such an extrodinarily defining vote - but one less potential exposure to cv19 is more important.
